When asked what Notre Dame running back Jonas Gray can bring to an NFL team his answer was quick and to the point—‘toughness.’
At 230 pounds, the 5-foot-9-inch Gray brought a power mentality to the backfield in South Bend and that is something he hopes will translate to the next level.
“I bring a mentality that I’m going to get the tough yards, the hard-earned yards,” Gray said.
Gray’s senior season came to an abrupt end in the second to last game of the regular season with a knee injury.
The Pontiac, Michigan native had 12 touchdowns during his senior season including averaging an impressive 6.9 yards per carry.
The knee injury has forced Gray to not participate in the running drills at this week’s combine but that hasn’t stopped him from letting potential suitors know how he can help the team.
“I’m going to be an asset on and off the field,” Gray said. “I think that’s (leadership) something I can bring to teams.”
