Posted by Kevin Bowen on September 5, 2012 – 10:12 am

Intro:  Each week Colts.com will take a look at the rest of the AFC South and review the previous weekend’s games. Since it’s opening weekend, here is a preview of Week 1 for the Jaguars, Texans and Titans.

Week 1 AFC South Schedule

Texans vs. Dolphins, Sunday, 1:00 p.m.

-The Texans head into 2012 looking to defend their 2011 AFC South Division Title by opening up with a rookie quarterback in Ryan Tannehill. Quarterback Matt Schaub returns from an injury to lead a potent Texans offense with running back Arian Foster and wide receiver Andre Johnson. In 2011, the Texans were 10-6 before bowing out to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs. Houston made a four-win jump from 2010 in going from the bottom of the AFC South to the top of the division.

Jaguars @ Vikings, Sunday, 1:00 p.m.

-Quarterback Blaine Gabbert will begin his second NFL season as the starting quarterback for the Jaguars. Gabbert started the final 14 games of the 2011 season as the Jaguars finished the campaign with a 5-11 record. The Jaguars drafted wide receiver Justin Blackmon with the fifth overall pick in April’s NFL Draft and he gives Gabbert a go-to-guy in the receiving game. The 2012 season for the Jaguars opens with a road game at the Vikings.

Patriots @ Titans, Sunday, 1:00 p.m.

-The Titans rolled off three straight wins to end the preseason and just like the Jaguars, will go with a second-year quarterback as their starter. Jake Locker will welcome the defending AFC Champions to Nashville on Sunday afternoon. Tennessee will be looking to build off winning four of its final six games last season which put them at 9-7 and second in the AFC South Division.
