AUSTIN COLLIE AND INDIANAPOLIS COLTS PART WAYS

Posted by coltsindianapolis on February 16, 2013 – 9:32 am

The Indianapolis Colts have informed wide receiver Austin Collie that his contract will not be renewed.

“Austin was a warrior and an inspiration for the franchise and Colts fans around the world,” said Owner and CEO Jim Irsay. “He was a great player for us and a superstar for our community, and will always be a part of the Colts family.”

Collie spent four seasons (2009-12) with the Colts after being selected by the team in the fourth round (127th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. For his career, he has recorded 173 receptions for 1,845 yards and 16 touchdowns in 42 games played (16 starts). He has also registered 17 receptions for 241 yards and two touchdowns in three postseason games (one start).

Collie was named to the PFW/PFWA and The Sporting News NFL All-Rookie teams in 2009. In his first season, he played in all 16 games (five starts) and compiled 60 receptions for 676 yards and seven touchdowns. Collie led all NFL rookies that year in receiving touchdowns and tied for the most receptions. He also finished with the third-most receiving touchdowns, fourth-most catches and fifth-most receiving yards by a rookie in Colts history.

This is rough news to hear. My step son is the biggest Austin Collie fan. We were at the Philly game when he was knocked out.

Wishing you all the best Mr. Collie and a healthy rest of your career… now how will I tell my little guy the bad news?

I think it is time because they were wasting their money and not getting anything out of him
