Late last week, ESPN’s Ron Jaworski returned to the city of Indianapolis as the keynote speaker for the Colts Kickoff Luncheon.
A few hours before Jaworski spoke at The Westin Hotel, it was announced that Indianapolis was bidding on the 2018 Super Bowl.
“You deserve to have another Super Bowl in Indianapolis,” Jaworski said to the luncheon crowd. “A coupe of years ago, it was a great, fantastic time. Everyone that I’ve spoken to around the country said Indianapolis deserves another opportunity and you will get it, so I look forward to coming back here in 2018.”
While future Super Bowls was the early topic for Jaworski, the former NFL quarterback wanted to get into the Colts current Super Bowl chances.
He says the excitement that he feels when he comes around the Colts is not something he gets around many NFL teams.
“I haven’t thrown a meaningful pass in 23 years but when I come here, I get excited. I actually think I could drop back because I get so much excitement when I’m around this group.”
“There’s just enthusiasm, that passion for the game. How can you not feel that this is a team that can compete for a Super Bowl when you’re around these guys, and you’re around these coaches and you’re around this organization.”
As a 17-year NFL veteran, Jaworski has been around his fair share of Super Bowl teams and he sees something similar in the 2013 Indianapolis Colts.
“I’ve always believed there are certain intangibles you need to win a Super Bowl and I believe the Indianapolis Colts have those intangibles that are so critical to be a World Champion, not to be a playoff team, but to be a World Champion.”
