What are some national media members saying about the trade for Trent Richardson

The trade for Trent Richardson on Wednesday evening sent shock waves around the NFL.

In Richardson, the Colts have now upgraded an already record-setting 2012 draft class.

What do some national media members think of the trade?

ESPN’s Jamison Hensley writes

“All you have to do is watch Richardson to see his potential. He played most of his rookie season with broken ribs.”

Sports Illustrated’s Peter King writes

“I want my general manager to have the courage of his convictions to make a deal like this one. I want my coach to know he’s got a GM who’s not going to wait until draft day to fix a big problem. I want my players to think, “The front office is doing everything it can do to win now.” And that’s the case in Indianapolis now. How do you think Robert Mathis and Reggie Wayne, who might be in their last season or two, feel about their team this morning? Pretty good, I bet.”

Fox Sports Ross Jones and Sid Saraf write

“By trading for Richardson, the Colts immediately bring in a tough-as-nails runner who they can pair with Ahmad Bradshaw. Richardson is a threat between the tackles and has above-average hands coming out of the backfield. Offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton has been known as a run-first mind since his days at Stanford and having a weapon like the second-year running back is a boon.”

NFL.com’s Judy Batista writes

“Those protection issues weren’t solved by the stunning late-day trade for Trent Richardson — you don’t give up a first-round draft pick to acquire one of the league’s best running backs just to pick up a blitzer. But it does signal a desire by the Colts to not stand still, to not cede a season because of some bad luck and — not incidentally — to give offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton the kind of power running game he and Luck had at Stanford.”

Good move. We have been in need of a reliable, pounding runner for a long time.

If he’s so good then why did the Browns part with him. There may be some extra baggage with this deal. Hopefully the new start in Indy will clean that up.

you can have him. He is a dancer and until he stops doing that he will never be an elite NFL running back. Watch and see if you do not find youself yelling at the TV screen STOP DANCING AND RUN THE BALL!
