The Colts enjoyed a Victory Monday to begin Week 4 of the regular season. Today’s news looks at Andrew Luck’s decision-making on his six-yard touchdown run and how the Colts earned Sunday’s 27-7 victory.

Take a look below at the top pieces from Tuesday, September 24th.

Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano heard ‘sucker’ at end of play call on Luck’s TD run

While Andrew Luck might not admit it, that fourth quarter six-yard touchdown run might have been No. 12’s doing on the bootleg.

Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano didn’t know Andrew Luck was going to keep the ball on a key third down at San Francisco’s 6-yard line in what became Sunday’s game-winning touchdown. But he wasn’t surprised.

That decision is what focused, winning football players do, and Pagano had field full of them in the convincing win over the 49ers.

Instead of deferring to a running back, Luck hid the ball on his hip and rolled around the left side of the line for the walk-in score. Not even left tackle Anthony Castonzo knew Luck was coming his way.

“All I heard was ‘sucker,’” Pagano said with a laugh during Monday’s media briefing at team headquarters. “Long play call and then I heard ‘sucker’ at the end of it.

“As soon as I saw him in the end zone and (spiking) the ball, it felt awesome.”

Colts’ win just like they drew it up

This was what the Colts new regime has envisioned for some time now.

When he was hired nearly 21 months ago, Pagano said he wanted to field a team that hit hard for 60 minutes on both sides of the ball. He wanted to play an old-fashioned smashmouth style that would leave an impression on opponents long after the final gun. And, most importantly, he wanted the team’s performance to be something its fans could take pride in.

On Sunday, in every facet, it was mission accomplished.

“Great team win,” Pagano told the media Monday at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center. “Great win for this city. Great win for our fans. Great win for the organization. Unbelievable. But we all understand it’s a marathon, it’s not a sprint.”
