Eye on the Prize: Week Three

Posted by Kevin Bowen on September 25, 2013 – 9:00 am

Each week Colts.com will take a look at the rest of the AFC South and review the previous weekend’s games.

Here is a look after Week Three:

Ravens 30, Texans 9

-In a game pitting 2012 AFC divisional winners, Ed Reed’s return to Baltimore concluded with a win over his old team. Houston led 10-6 late in the second quarter but an interception returned for a touchdown by linebacker Daryl Smith and a punt return for a touchdown by Tandon Doss changed momentum in a hurry. Baltimore took a 17-9 lead into halftime and running back Bernard Pierce, who was starting for the injured Ray Rice, scored on a one-yard touchdown early in the third quarter to give the Ravens a 24-9 lead that they would only add on to in the final frame.

NEXT GAME: Seattle, Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST

Titans 20, Chargers 17

-In perhaps the most exciting game of Sunday, Titans quarterback Jake Locker threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Justin Hunter with just 15 seconds remaining. The comeback for Tennessee began with 6:07 to go in the fourth quarter when kicker Rob Biroans connected on a 37-yard field goal to bring the home team to within four points. For the game, Locker was 23-of-37 for 299 yards and two touchdowns (one rushing). The Titans gained 458 yards of total offense with wide receiver Nate Washington (138 receiving yards) and running back Chris Johnson (90 rushing yards) leading the way.

NEXT GAME: New York Jets, Sunday at 4:05 p.m. EST

Seahawks 47, Jaguars 17

-The early season struggles for the Jaguars continued on Sunday playing in a hostile road environment. Seattle jumped out to a 31-0 lead on Sunday afternoon. Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne was 18-of-35 for 235 yards but was sacked three times and threw two interceptions. Pro Bowl running back Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for 43 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown. Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts led the team with eight catches for 143 receiving yards.
