Eye on the Prize: AFC South Standings Week 11

Posted by Kevin Bowen on November 12, 2013 – 9:00 am

Each week Colts.com will take a look at the rest of the AFC South and review the previous weekend’s games.

Here is a look after Week Nine:

Cardinals 27, Texans 24

-The Texans continued their slide in dropping a road contest. Quarterback Case Keenum threw for three touchdowns but it was how the Texans started the game in what will be remembered from Sunday’s game. A strip of Keenum was picked up by Arizona defensive end Matt Shaughnessy and returned six yards for a fumble to give the Cardinals an early lead. The Texans would take a 17-14 lead into halftime but Arizona scored the first 13 points of the second half. Houston has now lost seven straight games since winning its first two games of 2013.

NEXT GAME: Oakland, Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST

Jaguars 29, Titans 27

-In dropping a home game to the winless Jaguars, the Titans also lost quarterback Jake Locker. Backup Ryan Fitzpatrick did account for three touchdowns in a comeback attempt but it was his fumble with 2:32 left that sealed the game for the Jaguars. Titans running back Chris Johnson was held under 40 rushing yards for the sixth time in the last seven weeks. It will be a short week for the Titans as they sit two games back of the Colts with the two teams meeting in Nashville on Thursday.

NEXT GAME: Indianapolis, Thursday at 8:25 p.m. EST

Jaguars 29, Titans 27

-The Jaguars got their first win of 2013 thanks to a complete effort and their defense producing some critical fourth quarter points.  Jacksonville had a 20-7 lead midway through the third quarter but the Titans would not go quietly. A Jacksonville safety and a fumble returned for a touchdown in the fourth quarter both pushed one possession leads to two and that was the difference.

NEXT GAME: Arizona, Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST.

2013 AFC South Standings

Indianapolis 6-3

Tennessee 4-5

Houston 2-7

Jacksonville 1-8

If we don’t play any better and starting hitting our stride soon for the push in late Nov/ Dec the only prize we will be eyeing will come out of box of cracker jacks. SOS message to the OC – You better come up with a better secure plan for a balance attack than what we seen so far… Luck is getting killed….It’s a good thing he’s a big man else we would be down to our third string playing qb… ahhhh
