The Indianapolis Colts today claimed C-A.Q. Shipley off waivers (Baltimore) and waived C-Thomas Austin.
Shipley, 6-1, 307 pounds, has played in 30 career games (14 starts) over the past two seasons with Baltimore (2013) and Indianapolis (2012). Last season, he played in all 16 contests for the first time in his career, starting a total of nine games. Shipley was first signed by the Colts as a free agent on January 28, 2012 and competed in 14 games (five starts) in 2012 before being traded to the Ravens on May 9, 2013. He was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round (226th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Penn State University.
Austin was signed by the Colts as a free agent on August 8, 2014. He has competed in eight career games, making one start. In 2013, he saw action in the Colts’ Week 16 matchup at Kansas City (12/22). Austin previously spent time with the Carolina Panthers (2012) and Houston Texans (2011).
