The Indianapolis Colts today placed outside linebacker Cam Johnson on Injured Reserve and released quarterback Jeff Mathews from the practice squad.
Johnson appeared in one game this season and contributed one tackle. For his career, he has played in 15 games, making three tackles and five special teams stops. He has also recorded three special teams tackles in two postseason contests. Johnson was acquired by the Colts in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers on September 2, 2013.
Mathews was signed to the Colts practice squad on September 1, 2014. At Cornell University, he completed 901-of-1,447 passes (62.2%) for 11,284 yards and 72 touchdowns in 38 games. He also added nine rushing touchdowns. Mathews was originally signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2014 and was waived on August 24.
