The Indianapolis Colts today signed running back Jeff Demps and tight end Konrad Reuland to the practice squad and released quarterback Dominique Davis and wide receiver Chandler Jones from the practice squad.
Demps, 5-8, 191 pounds, was originally signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Florida on August 17, 2012. He was acquired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a trade with the Patriots on April 27, 2013. Demps played in two games in 2013 and recorded one rush for 14 yards, three receptions for 21 yards and four kickoff returns for 93 yards. He was then signed to the practice squad on August 31, 2014 and was released on October 13.
Demps finished his career at Florida as the school’s eighth all-time leading scorer. He played in 51 career games (27 starts) and totaled 367 rushes for 2,470 yards (6.7 avg.) and 23 touchdowns, while also adding 57 receptions for 481 yards and one touchdown. He returned 21 kickoffs for 604 yards and one touchdown. Demps was also a four-year letterman on the men’s track team where he became the only Florida athlete to win a national championship in multiple sports (2009 football national championship and four indoor and outdoor track championships. He was a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic 4×100 meter relay team that won the silver medal.
Reuland, 6-5, 260 pounds, has caught 12 passes for 90 yards in 26 career games (three starts) with the New York Jets (2012-13). He was originally signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford on July 27, 2011 and was waived on August 31, 2012. Reuland was then acquired from waivers by the Jets on September 1. In 2012, he appeared in all 16 games (three starts) and recorded career highs of 11 receptions for 83 yards.
In two seasons at Stanford (2009-2010), Reuland compiled 27 receptions for 351 yards and one touchdown in 26 games played (10 starts). Prior to that, he spent two years (2006-07) at Notre Dame and saw action in 10 games.
Davis was signed to the Colts practice squad on September 10, 2014. He appeared in one game with the Atlanta Falcons in 2013 and completed 5-of-7 passes (71.4%) for 34 yards and an 81.8 passer rating. Davis was originally signed by the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina University on April 30, 2012.
Jones was signed to the Colts practice squad on September 30, 2014. He was originally signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2014 and was waived on August 4. Jones set career records at San Jose State for receptions (248), receiving yards (3,087) and touchdown receptions (29) and became the first player in school history to record at least 50 receptions in all four years.
