The Indianapolis Colts today signed defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles to the practice squad and released outside linebacker Trevardo Williams from the practice squad.
Quarles, 6-4, 294 pounds, was first signed to the Colts active roster from the New England Patriots practice squad on September 16, 2014 and was waived on November 24. He has played in two games this season and recorded 1.0 sack and one pass defensed. Quarles played in 35 games (28 starts) in three seasons at the University of South Carolina and posted career totals of 105 tackles (66 solo), 13.0 sacks, 23.5 stops for losses and eight quarterback pressures.
Williams was signed to the Colts practice squad on September 23, 2014. He was originally selected by the Houston Texans in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft out of the University of Connecticut. At UConn, Williams started 30-of-50 games and recorded 134 tackles (85 solo) and a school career-record 30.5 sacks, which ranked as the sixth-best total in Big East Conference history.

The Indianapolis Colts today signed wide receiver Griff Whalen to the practice squad and announced that running back Jeff Demps has agreed to sign to the practice squad. The team released running back Michael Hill from the practice squad.
Whalen re-joins the Colts after being waived from the active roster on November 22, 2014. In 19 career games (three starts), he has totaled 26 receptions for 282 yards and two touchdowns. Whalen has also contributed on special teams, recording 34 punt returns for 291 yards (8.6 avg.) and 16 kickoff returns for 401 yards (25.1 avg.). He was originally signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford on April 30, 2012.
Demps, 5-8, 191 pounds, was first signed to the Colts practice squad on October 22, 2014 and was released on October 28. He played in two games in 2013 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and recorded one rush for 14 yards, three receptions for 21 yards and four kickoff returns for 93 yards. Demps was originally signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent on August 17, 2012 out of the University of Florida, where he finished his career as the school’s eighth all-time leading scorer. Demps played in 51 career games (27 starts) at Florida and totaled 367 rushes for 2,470 yards (6.7 avg.) and 23 touchdowns, while adding 57 receptions for 481 yards and one touchdown. He returned 21 kickoffs for 604 yards and one touchdown. Demps was also a four-year letterman on the men’s track team where he became the only Florida athlete to win a national championship in multiple sports (2009 football national championship and four indoor and outdoor track championships). He was a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic 4×100 meter relay team that won the silver medal.
Hill was signed to the Colts practice squad on November 18, 2014. He was originally signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent on April 27, 2013 and also spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Green Bay Packers before being released from the Packers practice squad on November 5, 2014. As a rookie in 2013, he played in eight games and rushed for 23 yards on nine carries and caught two passes for 23 yards. He also returned one kickoff for 19 yards.
