The Indianapolis Colts today signed defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles to the practice squad and released outside linebacker Trevardo Williams from the practice squad.
Quarles, 6-4, 294 pounds, was first signed to the Colts active roster from the New England Patriots practice squad on September 16, 2014 and was waived on November 24. He has played in two games this season and recorded 1.0 sack and one pass defensed. Quarles played in 35 games (28 starts) in three seasons at the University of South Carolina and posted career totals of 105 tackles (66 solo), 13.0 sacks, 23.5 stops for losses and eight quarterback pressures.
Williams was signed to the Colts practice squad on September 23, 2014. He was originally selected by the Houston Texans in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft out of the University of Connecticut. At UConn, Williams started 30-of-50 games and recorded 134 tackles (85 solo) and a school career-record 30.5 sacks, which ranked as the sixth-best total in Big East Conference history.
