INDIANAPOLIS COLTS SIGN DT-JERIS PENDLETON

The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent defensive tackle Jeris Pendleton.

Pendleton, 6-2, 323 pounds, rejoins the Colts after spending the last two seasons with the team. He missed the 2014 season after being placed on Injured Reserve on August 12, 2014. In 2013, Pendleton spent time on the Colts practice squad and active roster. He made four tackles (two solo) in one regular season game appearance and saw action in both postseason contests, finishing with four tackles and one special teams stop.

He was originally selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the seventh round (228th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. Pendleton played in four games as a rookie and made one solo tackle before being released by the Jaguars on May 22, 2013. He then participated in training camp with the Dallas Cowboys before being released on August 26, 2013, and signed to the Colts practice squad on December 3, 2013. Pendleton spent three weeks on Indianapolis’ practice squad before being elevated to the active roster on December 26, 2013.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS WAIVE K-TAYLOR PONTIUS

The Indianapolis Colts today waived kicker Taylor Pontius.

Pontius, 5-11, 180 pounds, originally signed with the Colts on May 20, 2015 as an undrafted free agent out of North Alabama. In 2014, he led the Lions with 79 points after converting 11-of-14 field goal attempts and 46-of-48 extra-point attempts.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS MAKE ROSTER MOVES

The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent tight end Sean McGrath and waived tight end Jean Sifrin.

McGrath, 6-5, 247 pounds, has played in 18 games (nine starts) over his NFL career and has caught 26 passes for 302 yards (11.6 avg.) and two touchdowns. He has also appeared in three postseason contests. McGrath spent the entire 2014 season on the Kansas City Chiefs Reserve/Did Not Report list prior to being reinstated and waived on April 15, 2015. In 2013, McGrath played in 16 games (nine starts) with the Chiefs and registered 26 catches for 302 yards and two touchdowns. He also saw action in the Chiefs lone playoff game. McGrath originally entered the league with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2012. He spent part of his rookie season on the Seahawks practice squad before being promoted to the active roster and playing in the team’s final two regular season games and two playoff contests. He spent all of 2013 training camp with the Seahawks before being released and claimed off waivers by the Chiefs.

Collegiately, McGrath played two seasons (2010-11) at Henderson State and finished with 61 receptions for 717 yards and four touchdowns. As a junior in 2010, he was named First Team All-Gulf South Conference and First Team Daktronics All-Region after catching 55 passes for 656 yards and four touchdowns. Prior to Henderson State, McGrath spent three years (2006-08) at Eastern Illinois and registered 28 receptions for 301 yards and three touchdowns.

Sifrin, 6-5, 245 pounds, originally signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2015. He played in 11 games (nine starts) in one season at Massachusetts and caught 42 passes for 642 yards and six touchdowns. Prior to UMass, Sifrin played at El Camino Junior College and ASA College in Brooklyn.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS MAKE ROSTER MOVES

The Indianapolis Colts today signed undrafted free agent defensive lineman Camaron Beard and waived cornerback Al-Hajj Shabazz.

Beard, 6-5, 290 pounds, worked out with the Colts on a tryout basis during Indianapolis’ three-day rookie mini-camp after going undrafted out of Cincinnati. He played in 41 games as a Bearcat and finished with 75 tackles (22 solo), 2.0 sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one pass defensed. As a senior in 2014, Beard had 37 tackles (eight solo), 1.0 sack and two tackles for loss. The Indianapolis native played locally at Cathedral High School.

Al-Shabazz, 6-0, 200 pounds, originally signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2015. He played in 47 games at West Chester University, notching 151 tackles (100 solo), 32 passes defensed and nine interceptions.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS SIGN WR-TYLER RUTENBECK

The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent wide receiver Tyler Rutenbeck.

Rutenbeck, 6-2, 186 pounds, was originally signed by the Washington Redskins on May 7, 2015 after going undrafted out of Dubuque. He was released on May 18, 2015. Rutenbeck played four seasons (2011-14) at Dubuque and recorded 163 receptions for 2,715 yards and a school-record 42 receiving touchdowns. He ranks third in school history in receiving yards and fourth in receptions.

As a senior in 2014, Rutenbeck caught 66 passes for 918 yards and 11 touchdowns en route to garnering First Team All-Iowa Conference honors. In 2013, he registered 68 receptions for 1,269 yards and led Division III with 22 receiving touchdowns. Rutenbeck earned numerous honors including First Team All-Iowa Conference, First Team Associated Press Little All-America (D2-D3-NAIA), AFCA Division III All-America and D3football.com All-America honors. He had a team-high nine touchdowns as a sophomore after catching 28 passes for 520 yards.
