The Indianapolis Colts today signed undrafted free agent guard Kitt O’Brien and waived guard Ben Heenan after reaching an injury settlement.
O’Brien, 6-5, 310 pounds, spent the last two seasons in the Arena Football League with the Cleveland Gladiators after playing collegiately at Ball State.
In 2014, he started all 18 games for the Gladiators along the offensive line. As a rookie in 2013, O’Brien started all five games that he appeared in with Cleveland. At Ball State, he started 36-of-40 career games for the Cardinals. In 2012, O’Brien played in all 13 games (10 starts). As a junior in 2011, he started all 12 games for the second time of his career and was part of an offensive line that tied for 12th in the nation for fewest sacks allowed with 11. In 2010, O’Brien started all 12 games at right guard for the first time of his career. He played in three games as a freshman and started two contests.
Heenan, 6-4, 315 pounds, originally signed with the Colts as a free agent on February 4, 2015. Prior to joining Indianapolis, he started 49-of-52 games in three seasons (2012-14) with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League after playing collegiately at the University of Saskatchewan.
