The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent guard Harland Gunn and waived wide receiver L.T. Smith.
Gunn, 6-2, 310 pounds, has played in 13 games (one start) over the last two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. He most recently spent time with the New England Patriots and was waived by the team on August 6, 2015. Gunn originally signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2012 and spent time with the team through training camp before being waived. He was signed to the New Orleans Saints practice squad on September 2, 2012. Gunn spent 11 weeks on the Saints practice squad before being signed to the Atlanta Falcons active roster on November 20, 2012.
In 2014, Gunn played in a career-high 10 games and registered his first career start in Week 5 at the New York Giants after starting the season on Atlanta’s practice squad. He played in three games for the Falcons as a reserve offensive lineman in 2013.
Collegiately, Gunn started 30 games over his collegiate career at Miami (FL). As a senior in 2011, he started all 12 games at left guard for the Hurricanes and allowed zero sacks while committing zero penalties. In 2010, Gunn started all 13 games on the offensive line for the first time of his career. He saw action in 13 games (five starts) at right guard as a sophomore. Gunn participated most of the season on the scout team in 2008 after redshirting as a true freshman in 2007.
Smith, 6-0, 202 pounds, originally signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent on August 18, 2015. He played in 48 games (34 starts) at Akron and recorded 117 receptions for 1,426 yards and nine touchdowns.
