The Indianapolis Colts today traded a conditional late-round 2017 NFL Draft pick to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for defensive lineman Billy Winn. The team has also waived guard Robert Myers and waived running back Daniel Herron from Injured Reserve.
Winn, 6-4, 300 pounds, was originally drafted by the Browns in the sixth round (205th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. He’s played in 40 games (18 starts) and registered 87 tackles (57 solo), 3.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, five passes defensed and two interceptions. In 2014, Winn played in 13 games (five starts) and finished with 31 tackles (17 solo), one forced fumble, two passes defensed, one interception and one blocked field goal. He played in 11 games (three starts) in 2013 and tallied 30 tackles (21 solo), 2.0 sacks and one forced fumble. Winn started 10-of-16 games as a rookie in 2012 and totaled 26 tackles (19 solo), two fumble recoveries, three passes defensed and one interception. He was the only rookie defensive lineman to record an interception and tied for second among rookies in defensive fumble recoveries.
Collegiately, Winn started 41-of-53 career games at Boise State and finished with 131 tackles, 35.5 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. As a senior in 2011, he played in 13 games (12 starts) and totaled 33 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks and one fumble recovery. Winn started all 13 games in 2010 and registered 28 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. As a sophomore in 2009, he started all 14 games and tallied 44 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 6.0 sacks and one fumble recovery. Winn saw action in 13 games (two starts) as a freshman and made 26 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble.
Myers, 6-5, 335 pounds, was claimed by the Colts off waivers on September 6. He was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round (176th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft and was waived by the team on September 5. He appeared in 46 games (35 starts) at Tennessee State, starting his final 29 consecutive games for the Tigers.
Herron, 5-10, 213 pounds, was signed by the Colts off the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad on October 9, 2013. He has played in 25 career NFL games (three starts) and carried the ball 87 times for 389 yards (4.5 avg.) and one touchdown and has 22 receptions for 230 yards.
