The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent quarterback Josh Johnson and placed cornerback Jalil Brown on the Injured Reserve list.
Johnson, 6-3, 210 pounds, was active but did not play in the Colts Week 4 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was originally signed by the team on October 2 and released on October 5. Johnson has played in 29 career NFL games (five starts) and completed 96-of-177 passes for 1,042 yards with five touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Johnson also has tallied 44 rushes for 274 yards. He has spent time with the San Francisco 49ers (2014), Cincinnati Bengals (2013), Cleveland Browns (2012) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2008-2011). Johnson was selected by the Buccaneers in the fifth round (160th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.
Brown, 6-1, 210 pounds, was signed by the Colts as a free agent on November 27, 2014. He played in all four games (three starts) for the Colts in 2015 and registered 15 tackles (12 solo) and one pass defensed. Brown has seen action in 43 games (five starts) over his NFL career and totaled 40 tackles (37 solo), four passes defensed, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 17 special teams tackles with Indianapolis (2013-15) and the Kansas City Chiefs (2011-12).
