The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent running back Ahmad Bradshaw and placed running back Tyler Varga on the Injured Reserve list.
Bradshaw, 5-10, 217 pounds, played each of the last two seasons with the Colts. He originally signed with Indianapolis as a free agent on June 11, 2013. Prior to joining the Colts, Bradshaw played six seasons (2007-2012) with the New York Giants after being selected by the Giants in the seventh round (250th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft. He has played in 97 career NFL games (36 starts) and registered 1,052 carries for 4,843 yards and 36 touchdowns and 177 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns. Bradshaw has also contributed in the return game and has 77 kickoff returns for 1,788 yards and eight punt returns for 62 yards. He has appeared in nine postseason contests (three starts), tallying 111 rushes for 480 yards and two touchdowns, 20 receptions for 141 yards and seven kickoff returns for 193 yards.
Last season, Bradshaw played in 10 games (one start) for the Colts and registered 90 carries for 425 yards and two touchdowns and caught 38 passes for 300 yards and six touchdowns before being placed on the team’s Injured Reserve list on November 18, 2014. In 2013, he saw action in three games (two starts) and totaled 41 rushes for 186 yards and two touchdowns and seven receptions for 42 yards before being placed on the Injured Reserve list on October 9, 2013. In six seasons (2007-2012) with the Giants, he played in 84 games (33 starts) and recorded 921 carries for 4,242 yards and 32 touchdowns and 132 receptions for 1,087 yards and three touchdowns. Bradshaw played in nine postseason contests for the Giants and was part of two Super Bowl Championships (XLII and XLVI).
Varga, 5-11, 225 pounds, was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2015. He played in Weeks 1-3 and had one carry for two yards and one reception for 18 yards. Varga also registered six kickoff returns for 151 yards (25.2 avg.) and tallied one special teams tackle. He finished his collegiate career at Yale ranked fourth in rushing yards (2,895), fifth in attempts (529), third in rushing touchdowns (31) and second in yards per carry average (5.6).
