The Indianapolis Colts today placed guard Hugh Thornton and quarterback Charlie Whitehurst on the Injured Reserve list.
Thornton, 6-3, 324 pounds, started 12-of-13 games on the offensive line for the Colts this season. He has played in 37 career games (32 starts) for Indianapolis since the team drafted him in the third round (86th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. Thornton also started two postseason contests for the team as a rookie in 2013.
Whitehurst, 6-5, 226 pounds, was claimed by the Colts off waivers from the Tennessee Titans on November 12, 2015. He played in four games for the Colts this season and completed 16-of-32 passes for 150 yards and one interception. Whitehurst has appeared in 24 career NFL games (nine starts) and connected on 205-of-372 passes for 2,281 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
