INDIANAPOLIS COLTS MAKE ROSTER MOVES

The Indianapolis Colts today claimed quarterback Josh Woodrum off waivers from the New York Giants and waived-injured tight end Mike McFarland. If McFarland clears waivers, he will revert to the Colts Injured Reserve list.Woodrum, 6-3, 231 pounds, was signed by the Giants as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2016 and waived three days later. He started 44-of-46 games at Liberty and was the first four-year starter in program history in nearly two decades. Woodrum finished his career as Liberty’s all-time career leader in passing yards (10,266) and total offensive yards (10,690). He is second in school history in touchdowns passes (59) and career completion percentage (63.9). Woodrum is third in Flames history in rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (16) and passing efficiency (140.9). The three-time team captain (2013-15) recorded nine 300-plus yard passing games. Additionally, he totaled 228 carries for 424 yards during his career.

In 2015, Woodrum was a Big South All-Conference second-team honoree for the third consecutive season and invited to play in the 2016 NFLPA Game after starting all 11 games and completing 242-of-390 passes for 2,772 yards with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions for a 129.9 pass efficiency rating. As a redshirt junior in 2014, he started 12 games and was a Big South All-Conference second-team honoree and earned VaSID all-state second-team accolades as he completed 210-of-339 passes for 2,947 yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions for a 147.6 pass efficiency rating. In 2013, Woodrum earned Big South All-Conference second-team honors and was named to the College Sporting News National All-Stars list after starting all 12 games and completing 198-of-308 passes for 2,581 yards with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions for a 150.5 pass efficiency rating. As a redshirt freshman in 2012, he was named the Big South Freshman of the Year and VaSID Offensive Rookie of the Year as he played in all 11 games (nine starts) and completed 183-of-267 passes for 1,966 yards with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions for a 137.2 pass efficiency rating. Woodrum set the program freshman record with 1,963 total yards and ranked second in passing yards for a Flames freshman.

McFarland, 6-6, 262 pounds, signed with the Colts as a free agent on March 30, 2016. Last season, he spent his entire rookie season on the Houston Texans Injured Reserve list.
