The Indianapolis Colts today signed undrafted free agent safety Lee Hightower.
Hightower, 6-2, 200 pounds, participated in the Houston Texans 2016 rookie minicamp on a tryout basis but was not signed. He played in 20 games (seven starts) in two seasons (2014-15) at the University of Houston and finished with 65 tackles (40 solo), 0.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, five passes defensed and one forced fumble. In 2015, he started 11-of-14 games for the Cougars and compiled 53 tackles (34 solo), one interception, two passes defensed and one forced fumble. Hightower started the first six games of the 2014 season and recorded 12 tackles (six solo), 0.5 tackles for loss, one interception and three passes defensed before suffering a season-ending injury. In 2013, he redshirted after transferring from Boise State, where he started 11-of-15 games for the Broncos from 2011-12 and registered 56 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, one interception and five passes defensed. Hightower started all seven games he appeared in as a sophomore in 2012 and collected 31 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and one pass defensed. As a freshman in 2011, he saw action in eight games (four starts) and posted 25 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, one interception and four passes defensed.
