The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent safety Alden Darby.
Darby, 5-10, 194 pounds, most recently participated in the offseason program and training camp with the New Orleans Saints before being waived on August 6, 2016. In 2015, he spent most of the season on the Saints practice squad after participating in training camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers and being waived during final cuts. In 2014, Darby participated in the offseason program with the San Diego Chargers but was waived during training camp. He originally signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2014. Collegiately, Darby played in 50 games (28 starts) at Arizona State and totaled 217 tackles (155 solo), 8.5 tackles for loss, 26 passes defensed, 10 interceptions, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. He earned First Team All-Pac-12 honors (2013) and Second Team All-Pac-12 honors (2012) during his final two seasons with the Sun Devils.
