“Back-Up of the Game” is running back Robert Turbin

This week’s “Back-Up of the Game” presented by Venyu is running back Robert Turbin.

We know Frank Gore’s backup for the 2016 season.

On Sunday, Robert Turbin carried the immediate load behind Gore, filling in on third downs and providing some key first-down conversions.

Turbin had two catches for 15 yards on Sunday and also converted a third-and-one with a four-yard carry in the third quarter.

It was that opening drive of the second half where Turbin moved the sticks on a pair of third downs.

After driving ahead on a third-and-one, Turbin then took a shorter pass on a third-and-10 and darted ahead 12 yards to keep the drive alive.

Besides Turbin, the Colts also received some nice production from undrafted running back Josh Ferguson. The rookie from Illinois had two catches for 26 yards and played a bunch in the second half.

Obviously, Gore is still the feature back in Indianapolis, but the Colts will continue to rely on Turbin and Ferguson to keep the 33-year old fresh over the course of a 16-game season.
