The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agents wide receiver Harvey Binford, wide receiver Fred Brown and linebacker Jeremiah George. The team also waived wide receiver Marcus Leak, wide receiver Al-Damion Riles and defensive tackle Kristjan Sokoli.
Binford, 6-0, 185 pounds, spent training camp with the Green Bay Packers in 2016 prior to being waived on August 30. He was signed by the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent on March 29, 2017 and was then released on May 10. Binford also has experience in the Arena League with the Philadelphia Soul. He attended Lindenwood University-Belleville for two seasons (2012-13) where he caught 43 passes for 978 yards (22.7 avg.) and nine touchdowns. In the school’s first year of play, Binford scored the first touchdown in Lynx history and finished with 26 catches for 569 yards and three touchdowns.
Brown, 6-1, 196 pounds, played in 34 games at Mississippi State and totaled 50 receptions for 785 yards and five touchdowns. In 2015, he saw action in 13 games and caught 27 passes for 412 yards and three touchdowns. Brown appeared in 13 games in 2014 and tallied 18 receptions for 299 yards and two touchdowns. In 2013, he saw action in eight games and caught five passes for 74 yards. Brown redshirted as a true freshman in 2012.
George, 5-11, 234 pounds, has played in 21 career NFL games and totaled four tackles (two solo), one blocked punt and nine special teams stops in his time with the Dallas Cowboys (2016), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2015), Jacksonville Jaguars (2014) and New York Jets (2014). He was originally selected by the Jets in the fifth round (154th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Iowa State.
In 2016, George spent the entire season on the Cowboys practice squad. He played in 15 games for the Buccaneers in 2015 and compiled one tackle, one blocked punt and six special teams stops. As a rookie in 2014, George spent the first three weeks of the season on the Jets practice squad before being signed to the Jaguars active roster on September 23. He appeared in six games for Jacksonville and tallied three tackles (two solo) and three special teams stops.
Leak, 6-0, 210 pounds, signed a reserve/future contract with the Colts on January 2, 2017. He spent time on Indianapolis’ active roster and practice squad last season but did not see game action. Leak originally signed with Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2016.
Riles, 5-11, 215 pounds, signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 15, 2017. He participated in the team’s 2017 rookie mini-camp on a tryout basis before being signed. Riles played in 54 games (41 starts) at Louisiana Lafayette and caught 140 passes for 1,560 yards and seven touchdowns. He also tallied 43 tackles (32 solo), 3.5 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one interception (returned 99 yards for a touchdown) as a defensive back and linebacker.
Sokoli, 6-5, 300 pounds, has played in one career NFL game. In 2016, he spent Weeks 4-15 on the Colts practice squad before being signed to the active roster on December 19. Sokoli was inactive for the last two games of the regular season. In 2015, he played in one game on the offensive line as a rookie for the Seahawks. Sokoli was originally selected by Seattle in the sixth round (214th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Buffalo.
