The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent wide receiver Brian Riley.
Riley, 6-3, 190 pounds, participated in the Colts’ 2017 rookie mini-camp on a tryout basis.
Collegiately, Riley played in 42 games at San Diego and compiled 83 receptions for 1,579 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also saw action as a defensive back in his first two seasons and tallied 24 tackles (15 solo). Riley garnered All-Pioneer League recognition twice (first-team in 2016 and second-team in 2015) and was a three-time member of the Pioneer Football League Honor Roll (2013, 2014 and 2016). In 2016, he started all nine games and caught 39 passes for 797 yards and five touchdowns. Riley led the team in receiving yards and added one solo tackle. He played in all 11 games in 2015 and collected 44 receptions for 782 yards and eight touchdowns. Riley also returned seven kickoffs for 150 yards (21.4 avg.). In 2014, he saw action in 11 games and made 11 tackles (five solo). Riley appeared in all 11 games in 2013 and tallied 12 tackles (nine solo).

The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agents wide receiver Valdez Showers and running back George Winn. The team also waived-injured wide receivers Chris Briggs and Tevaun Smith. If Briggs and Smith clear waivers, they will revert to the Colts Injured Reserve List
Showers, 6-0, 198 pounds, most recently spent time with the Washington Redskins. He participated in the Redskins’ 2016 offseason program and training camp before being waived on August 27, 2016. Showers originally signed with Washington as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2016.
Collegiately, Showers played in 46 career games (one start) at Florida from 2012-15. He finished with 26 receptions for 197 yards and two touchdowns. Showers also carried the ball 13 times for 98 yards and recorded eight kickoff returns for 113 yards (14.1 avg.). He saw action as a defensive back, wide receiver and running back with the Gators. In 2015, Showers appeared in all 14 games (one start) at wide receiver and compiled six receptions for 64 yards. He also contributed heavily on special teams and tallied 11 special teams tackles. Showers played in 11 games in 2014 and caught two passes for 31 yards and one touchdown. He led the team with 14 special teams tackles. In 2013, Showers appeared in 10 games and registered 12 carries for 103 yards. He also caught 18 passes for 102 yards and one touchdown. Showers played in 11 games in 2012 as a defensive back and made two solo tackles while participating mostly on special teams. He redshirted as a true freshman in 2011.
Winn, 5-11, 215 pounds, has played in 19 career games in his time with the New York Giants (2016), Detroit Lions (2014-16), Dallas Cowboys (2013), Pittsburgh Steelers (2013), Oakland Raiders (2013), New England Patriots (2013) and Houston Texans (2013). He has compiled 23 carries for 74 yards and two kickoff returns for 28 yards. Winn has also appeared in one playoff contest.
In 2016, Winn spent time on the Giants active roster and practice squad. He also spent time on the Lions practice squad. From 2014-15, Winn spent time on the Lions active roster and practice squad. He played in seven games in 2015 and tallied four carries for one yard. In 2014, Winn appeared in 12 games and registered 19 carries for 73 yards and two kickoff returns for 28 yards. He saw action in one postseason contest. Winn spent time on the practice squads of the Cowboys, Steelers and Raiders in 2013 after participating in training camp with the Patriots. He originally signed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2013 out of Cincinnati.
Briggs, 6-5, 220 pounds, signed with the Colts as a free agent on June 12, 2017. He signed a reserve/future contract with the Seattle Seahawks on January 19, 2017 and was waived on May 9. Collegiately, Briggs played in 10 games (nine starts) at Southeastern Louisiana in 2015 and finished with 11 receptions for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Prior to Southeastern Louisiana, he spent three seasons at Southern Mississippi. Briggs appeared in 31 games (one start) for the Golden Eagles and compiled 26 receptions for 368 yards and one touchdown.
Smith, 6-2, 197 pounds, signed a reserve/future contract with the Colts on January 2, 2017. Last season, he spent his rookie year on Indianapolis’ active roster and practice squad. Smith appeared in two games for the Colts. He originally signed with the team as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2016 out of Iowa.
