What’s up Colts Nation? As the fantasy season begins to wind down, by default my time on this blog is limited. As I mentioned in last week’s blog, all I had to do to earn a spot in the playoffs is to win and I was in. Well long story short, I didn’t do that, instead I got blown out by one of the best teams in my league.

The good news is that I have another league that I’m in where my team made the playoffs. The bad news is that team Colts Fan Casey is eliminated from playoff contention. My other team, “Make it Wayne on These Throws,” finished the season with a 10-4 record which is the inverse of team Colts Fan Casey’s record.

So now let’s take a moment to look forward to this week’s games. Despite the HUGE playoff and postseason implications present in matchups across the NFL this weekend, there are a lot of favorable fantasy pairings as well.

I’m going to show you guys a look at my other team’s roster for this week’s playoff game. It’s shown below.

Now for my “start em” and “sit em” picks of the week.

Week 15 Start em: He happens to be my starting QB, but I think Matt Stafford is your go-to guy this week as the Lions take on the Arizona Cardinals who are coming off a 58-0 loss at the hands of the Seahawks.

Week 15 Sit em: I’m going with Bears running back Matt Forte. He’s had a good season on the fantasy circuit, but I found an astounding stat saying he hasn’t scored a touchdown in the last four games against the Packers. Sit Mr. Forte.

Week 15 Random Thought: Don’t just base your starting lineup off of projections. Look at oppositions, trends, how teams handle the run vs. how they handle the pass. Look outside of the projections made by a bunch of pencil pushers. You know football now show it!

That’s it for me today; don’t forget to check out my homepage on Colts.com to see what I’ve been up to! (Especially my tailgate videos)

COLTS FAN CASEY: WEEK 6 FANTASY BLOG

Posted by ColtsCaseyB on October 12, 2012 – 3:20 pm

What’s up Colts Nation!? Well it happened. I went to 0-5. I never thought I would be this low in my fantasy football career but I am in a deep valley. There’s nothing that I did this week that led to my demise. Instead, my opponent had Tom Brady, Victor Cruz, and Ahmad Bradshaw who combined for 71 points so that didn’t help my cause. You can see my scoring below.

So heading into this week I had to make a change. My philosophy heading into the season was to get top players regardless of their team, but that has seem to backfire on me a bit as the players aren’t getting the opportunity they should because their team is not in position to best utilize them.

Let’s look at Trent Richardson for example. He has been putting up decent numbers, but almost all of his points come in the first half. He had 15 points at halftime last week and ended the game with a total of 18. That’s because when his team is down, they’re passing the ball not running.

This prompted me to make a game changing trade and I did. I gave up Trent and Dwayne Bowe for Marques Colston and Stevan Ridley. I know what you’re thinking, “a Patriots guy!?” but I had to do it. He has been putting up great numbers.

Now for my “start em” and “sit em” picks of the week.

Week 6 Start em: I’ve never been really hot on this guy, but I think this is the week he gets it done. I am going to go with Phillip Rivers as your starter for the week. He’s projected big points, but he seems to play better when pressure is on him, and it’s getting pretty high after the loss to New Orleans last week.

Week 6 Sit em: Just because San Fran is playing so well right now, I think you should sit Eli Manning as long as you have a solid back up. I think the 49ers will be able to get pressure on him and maybe even force a few turnovers.

Week 6 Random Though: Beware who you start in your flex spot. You should use this as a way to get 10-20 extra points every week. Don’t just base it off projections, look at the opposition and how someone can match up against them. Use your flex player to help you solidify a victory week in and week out.

That’s it for today. Don’t forget to visit my homepage and watch some of my tailgate videos.
