Colts Fan Casey: Mini-Camp at Lucas Oil Stadium Blog

It’s another big week in Colts land! That is right, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft Andrew Luck has finished his college work at Stanford and is now making his way back to Indianapolis to take the reins of “the monster” Coach Pagano and the guys have been building since Luck’s last practice.

It seems weird to think it’s been over a month since Luck was here practicing with his team and almost two months since the monumental night we drafted him. It’s also been about that long since my last blog so you all are in for a treat! I am going to try and break this blog down into sections so that you guys can follow my train of thought easier. I know, I like to jump all over the place sometimes when I blog, but that just shows my excitement for Colts football!

What I’ve seen so far

– So let’s think about all that has transpired since the last time I talked to you. First off, we capped off the final rounds of the NFL Draft with some solid picks in the third and even later in the draft. I might be a bit biased, but I think we had one of the best all-around draft classes out of the entire 2012 NFL Draft. I mean how many other teams drafted their next franchise QB, two franchise tight ends, and a franchise playmaker all before the end of round three? No one but us! We got the two best tight ends in the draft in Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen, plus added T.Y. Hilton who is just a burner with unbelievable playmaking ability. If that doesn’t get you excited about this rookie class I’m not sure what will! Our General Manager Ryan Grigson is known for being a talent evaluator, and I would say that as a fan, you couldn’t ask for a better first draft class to get a new GM’s tenure underway.

– Another thing that has me really excited is the balance between current Colts veterans and incoming veterans that have become vocal leaders already. Everyone knows the familiar faces of Reggie, Dwight, Antoine, and Robert, and we all know that they know their role as vocal leaders on this team. Then you have guys like Cory Redding, Tom Zbikowski, and Samson Satele who are new to the Colts, but are veterans familiar with being in that leadership position and looking to take their careers to the next level with the horseshoe on their helmet.

What I’m excited to see

– I’m really excited to see the way this team all comes together. There are a lot of moving pieces as is true with any NFL team, but I can’t wait to see how all the offseason moves and the new additions gel together to become one team. There are a lot of young guys on the team, but as I mentioned above, there are a lot of veterans as well. I think there’s a good mix between young “up and comers” and proven veterans which should provide a great balance of chemistry for the new coaching staff to work with.

– Coach Pagano and crew in pads for the first time in Lucas Oil Stadium at the mini-camp practice the Colts are hosting this Wednesday. This will be the only time that Colts fans get to see the team practice up close and personal before training camp. I can’t wait to see the team walk through the tunnel and come out to the field for practice in front of thousands and thousands of screaming Colts fans! Just to be in that stadium filled with the blue faithful again will be such an exhilarating feeling. Not to mention the select a seat promotion which gives Colts fans the opportunity to select their own seat to purchase season tickets for. Then you guys can join me and all the other fans that make Lucas Oil Stadium such a tough place for opposing teams to play. This is the one event that even Colts fan should mark on their calendar for the summer.  I will be there and so should you!

Final thoughts

As the season draws closer and closer my excitement level keeps on growing. I can’t wait for the 2012 Colts to take the field for the first time. I can’t wait to watch the games this year and definitely can’t wait to be with 65,000+ fans at home games to watch the new era of Colts football commence. If you’ve ever wanted a chance to own Colts season tickets, now is your time! Click here to find out how you can become a Colts season ticket holder! Don’t forget to join me and the rest of Colts nation on Wednesday June 13th, at Lucas Oil Stadium and as always GO HORSE!

Colt fan in VA. Im very eager to see how the WRs position plays out with us drafting Hilton and Brazill as well as picking up Sambrano who the coaching staff has been impressed with. Whalen who was the best WRs for Luck at Stanford, then three vets in Wayne,Collie, Avery. All seven cant make the 53 man roster so I cant wait to see how this position plays out.
Lastly Im very concerned with the O-line, It seems to me our first two draft picks from last year my have injury issues. To my knowledge both have missed the entire spring session due to injury and both missed time last year season mainly Ijalana
