The Indianapolis Colts have acquired cornerback D.J. Johnson in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for defensive tackle Ollie Ogbu. The deal will be finalized pending a completed physical.
Johnson, 6-1, 191 pounds, has competed in 10 NFL contests with the New York Giants (2009-10) and has totaled three tackles. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos in 2009 and spent time with the Tampa Bay and Minnesota practice squads before being signed by the Washington Redskins in 2011. Johnson was then released by Washington and signed to the Philadelphia practice squad where he remained for the rest of the 2011 campaign.
Johnson attended Jackson State and earned second-team All-America honors as a senior after totaling five interceptions.
Ogbu was originally signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on July 29, 2011 and spent the entire season on the team’s practice squad.
