The Indianapolis Colts today signed tight end Weslye Saunders. The Colts also waived outside linebacker Jerry Brown and quarterback Chandler Harnish from the active roster and released tight end Dominique Jones from the practice squad.

Saunders, 6-5, 270 pounds, spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played in 16 games, making six starts. He compiled a total of four receptions for 29 yards and one touchdown. Saunders originally signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent on July 26, 2011 and was waived on October 12, 2012.

Brown played in one game this year, his first career game against the New York Jets in Week 6. He was originally signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 23, 2012 and was waived on August 31. Brown was then signed to the practice squad on September 1 and elevated to the active roster on October 10.

Harnish was originally selected by the Colts in the seventh round (253rd overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft and was inactive for all five regular season games this year.

Jones played in four games (one start) this season and had one reception for eight yards. He was originally signed by the Colts on April 30, 2012. Jones was then waived on October 8 and signed to the practice squad on October 10.

I noticed in the game against the Jets, Luck did not do any scrambling out of the pocket, when he was being rushed. He seemed to have daylight and running lanes to get first downs, but it turned out to be a mute point.I still think that Dwight Freeney is uncomfortable playing in the three/four scheme, and he is ticketed out the door for next year. Is it possible we will find adefense by the end of the year, or is this coaching staff, as big a failure as the last one.

Do you forget we lost our coach for the season? That alone will knock off atleast 3 or so wins. The jets were just ready we (the colts were not ) Luck will be fine but theyshojld have kept Manning and let him tutor him for 2 years. It would have worked!!!!!

@Paul Knoll- You think being so negative is being a fan? This team has only played 5 total game together and you are already drawing conclusions? The head coach is not there and all new coaches on the sidelines. The players have not been together long enough to know each others names. I highly doubt we will find a strong defense this season with the lack of cap space and the newness of the players. For you to expect the Colts to have an average or above defense is being narrow minded. After 5 game we have already matched the wins from last season and I think the Colts have a few wins this season yet.

@Mike- Why whine about old news? The cap space that the Polians left the Colts with made it impossible to keep Manning and Luck. Least you forget that Manning was offered a contract that would have made it possible but chose to move on. From what I see Luck does not need any tutoring. Luck is a lot farther along after 5 games than Manning was. Luck has a less talented team now than Manning did and already is just 1 win short of Manning as a rookie with 11 more games to play.
