Between now and the beginning of the NFL Draft (April 25), will take an offseason look at each of the Colts 2013 opponents. The fourth installment comes today with the Denver Broncos:

Denver Broncos 2013 Offseason:

2012 Season: 13-3 regular season. Finished 1st in the AFC West.

Key Offseason Additions: LB-Stewart Bradley, DT-Terrance Knighton, CB-Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, OG-Louis Vasquez, WR-Wes Welker

Key Offseason Losses: LB-Elvis Dumervil (Ravens), OG-Dan Koppen, (Saints), CB-Tracy Porter (Raiders), WR-Brandon Stokley, LB-D.J. Williams (Bears)

2013 Draft Picks: 1-28, 2-58, 3-90, 4-125, 5-161, 7-234

Analysis: The Broncos made the news of the 2012 offseason when they added All-Pro quarterback Peyton Manning. Things got off to a rocky start in Denver as the Broncos were looking at a 2-4 start after falling behind 24 points in a Monday Night Football matchup with the San Diego Chargers. Manning engineered another famous comeback and the Broncos would then rattle off 10 in a row to close out the regular season.

The sting of a 38-35 double overtime defeat in the AFC Divisional Round to the Baltimore Ravens won’t be forgotten until a Lombardi Trophy returns to Denver. The Broncos went out and made major headlines in the offseason signing Welker, which gives Denver a slot receiver to go along with Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas. The addition of Vasquez should bolster one of the league’s top offensive lines.

Defensively, the Broncos are bringing in a pair of veterans in the front seven but are also losing some game-changers. The loss of Porter will be off-set with the signing of Rodgers-Cromartie. The saga over Dumervil brought much attention to the Broncos and they will undeniably miss one of the game’s premier pass rushers.
