The Indianapolis Colts today waived tight end Dominique Jones from the active roster and released fullback Robert Hughes from the practice squad.

Jones played in six games (two starts) this season and caught two passes for 34 yards. For his career, he has appeared in 10 games (three starts), recording three receptions for 42 yards. Jones was originally signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2012.

Hughes was signed to the Colts practice squad on October 10, 2013. He has appeared in one game this season, catching one pass for six yards. In 2012, he played in five games (one start) with the team and recorded one rush for five yards and one reception for three yards.

Wow that makes amazing sense. The guy Jones catches 2 balls of 3 thrown to him down the field for big yards and he gets 1st downs on both and he is cut.

Yes I understand we need to make room maybe for a WR but I hate seeing players go that didn’t do anything wrong. Funny thing is even Hughes did fine in 2012 with his one carry for five yards.

When will we see one day players in pro sports be rewarded for doing well ? Tired of big contract underachievers and restrictive rosters making it impossible to give long shot players a chance to prove themselves.

Jones was waived, Hughes was cut (making room for Jones on the PS).

Jones will likely go to practice squad if he clears wavers. Leaves me wondering who the cleared a roster spot for. They have someone in mind or they wouldn’t hVE MADE THIS MOVE.

we need to get rid of our 3rd string rb, Richardson must go so Donald brown can take the spot he deserves!

Grison is going to sign someone like Deion Branch or Dante Stallworth. Someone not affiliated with another team and is recently on the “not playing” list. When a guy like Branch already lives in your town and is unemployed, you don’t have to pay quite as much.

Growing up watching Peyton play for the Colts, I thought no one would be able to replace him both in skill and player impact he made on the team, but through good management they have made a new team that is (in my opinion) more entertaining to watch and gets the job done. Good job Colts players, and management!!
(P.S: Trent needs to change his game up, pick a hole and run it, he stops too often behind linemen losing momentum trying to follow blocks, I can’t see him breaking for a huge run like that… easier said then done, I’m sure.)
