The Indianapolis Colts today elevated outside linebacker Daniel Adongo and tackle Xavier Nixon from the practice squad to the active roster and agreed to terms with fullback Robert Hughes and defensive tackle Jeris Pendleton, who will be signed to the practice squad. The team also placed inside linebacker Mario Harvey and running back Daniel “Boom” Herron on Injured Reserve.
Adongo, 6-5, 257 pounds, was originally signed by the Colts on July 25, 2013 and was signed to the practice squad on September 1. Prior to joining the Colts, he most recently played for the Southern Kings of Super 15 Rugby, the highest level of pro rugby in the world. He also played in the 2012 Varsity Cup for the University of Pretoria Tuks.
Nixon, 6-6, 314 pounds, was signed to the Colts active roster off the Washington Redskins practice squad on September 24, 2013. He was inactive for all four games before being waived on October 28. He was then signed to the Colts practice squad the following day. Nixon appeared in 46 games (33 starts) on the University of Florida offensive line. As a senior in 2012, he earned All-SEC honors after playing 11 games with eight consecutive starts at left tackle.
Hughes, 5-11, 235 pounds, rejoins the Colts after being waived by the team on October 8, 2013. He played in one game this season, catching one pass for six yards. He also played in five games (one start) with the Colts in 2012 and recorded one rush for five yards and one reception for three yards. Hughes was originally signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2011.
Pendleton, 6-2, 334 pounds, was originally selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the seventh round (228th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. He played in four games and made one solo tackle in 2012 before being released by the Jaguars on May 22, 2013. He then signed with the Dallas Cowboys on June 12 and was released on August 26. Pendleton played two seasons at Ashland University and totaled 84 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 6.0 sacks and three forced fumbles in 22 games started.
Harvey played in all 12 games this season and totaled 11 tackles (10 solo) and eight special teams stops. In two years with the Colts, he has appeared in 25 games, making 15 tackles (13 solo) and 15 special teams tackles.
Herron was signed by the Colts from the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad on October 9, 2013. In six games this season, he recorded five rushes for 33 yards and one reception for 57 yards. He also contributed with six special teams tackles.
