The Indianapolis Colts today signed safety Winston Guy to the practice squad and released inside linebacker Rob Ruggiero from the practice squad. The team also waived inside linebacker Mario Harvey from Injured Reserve with an injury settlement.
Guy, 6-1, 218 pounds, has played in 20 career games (five starts) with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2013-14) and Seattle Seahawks (2012) and has recorded 38 tackles (28 solo), 2.0 sacks, two passes defensed and one forced fumble. This season, he started three of the first four games for the Jaguars and compiled 14 tackles (10 solo), 1.0 sack and one pass defensed. In 2013, Guy recorded career highs in games played (14), tackles (24), special teams stops (four), sacks (1.0) and forced fumbles (one). He was originally selected by the Seahawks in the sixth round (181st overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Kentucky.
Ruggiero was originally signed by the Colts as a free agent on August 21, 2014 and was waived on August 30. He was then signed to the practice squad on September 30. Ruggiero transferred to Bridgewater State University following three years at Springfield College and in four collegiate seasons, compiled career totals of 47.5 tackles for loss and 22.0 sacks.
Harvey played in 28 career games with the Colts (2012-14) and recorded 15 tackles (13 solo) and 16 special teams stops. In three games this season, he posted one special teams tackle, spending time at both the fullback and inside linebacker positions. Harvey was waived-injured from the team on September 27, 2014.
