“Back-Up of the Game” is outside linebacker Jonathan Newsome

This week’s “Back-Up of the Game” presented by Venyu is outside linebacker Jonathan Newsome.

Coming into Sunday night, one of the major storylines was how would the Colts be able to create pressure on Tom Brady.

It didn’t happen too often on Sunday but pressure was applied from second-year outside linebacker Jonathan Newsome.

In playing 33 defensive snaps on Sunday (out of 69 total), Newsome had one sack of Brady and two total quarterback hurries.

The sack from Newsome was his first of the season.

For the past couple of weeks, the Colts have been looking for a more consistent pass rush unit, something that can be very difficult when facing a quarterback like Brady.

With quarterbacks Drew Brees, Cam Newton and Peyton Manning coming the next three weeks, the Colts will need this sort of Newsome going forward.
