This week’s “Back-Up of the Game” presented by Venyu is tight end Jack Doyle.
When Rob Chudzinski took over as offensive coordinator this week, the tight end position was thought to be impacted in a positive way.
The unit definitely was on Sunday.
The trickle down effect was all the way to Jack Doyle, playing 31 snaps Sunday, after he logged a total of 21 offensive snaps the previous three weeks.
Doyle had two catches for 18 yards Sunday, including extending for a three-yard touchdown midway through the second quarter.
“Andrew did a good job of getting the ball out quick and gave me an opportunity to be able to stretch out there at the end,” Doyle said of his third career-touchdown.
“I was just lucky enough to be close enough to end zone.”
Luck distributed the ball around to nine different guys on Sunday, all of who whom saw at least two targets.
Coming off a short road week and facing the top defense in the NFL, this type of effort wasn’t expected.
“It’s been tough, but it hasn’t been a ton different,” Doyle said of the weekly preparation last week.
“I think our offensive coaches have done such a great job putting in extra time and getting us prepared. They had us ready to play.”
