The Indianapolis Colts today signed undrafted free agent cornerback Frankie Williams and waived tackle Davante Harris.Williams, 5-9, 190 pounds, worked out with the Colts on a tryout basis during Indianapolis’ rookie minicamp. He played in 48 games (38 starts) at Purdue and totaled 227 tackles (163 solo), 5.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, 36 passes defensed, 10 interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and one blocked kick. Williams also contributed on special teams with 32 punt returns for 334 yards and 22 kickoff returns for 505 yards.
In 2015, he started 11-of-12 games and recorded 47 tackles (30 solo), 1.0 tackle for loss, 0.5 sack, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble, 10 passes defensed and three interceptions. As a redshirt junior in 2014, Williams earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors after starting all 11 games he appeared in and collecting 74 tackles (51 solo), 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, one fumble recovery, 10 passes defensed and three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown). In 2013, he started 11-of-12 games and recorded 61 tackles (46 solo), 2.0 tackles for loss, five passes defensed, two interceptions and one blocked kick. As a redshirt freshman in 2012, Williams played in all 13 games (five starts) and had 45 tackles (36 solo), 1.0 tackle for loss, two interceptions and 11 passes defensed. He redshirted and did not play in 2011.
Harris, 6-6, 290 pounds, was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2016 and participated in the Colts rookie minicamp. He appeared in 42 games (27 starts) in five seasons at Appalachian State.
