The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent cornerback Winston Rose and waived safety Akeem Davis.Rose, 6-0, 180 pounds, was signed by the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2016 and participated in the Rams rookie minicamp before being waived on May 11. Collegiately, he played in 25 games (14 starts) at New Mexico State and finished with 105 tackles (79 solo), 3.0 tackles for loss, 13 passes defensed, five interceptions and one fumble recovery. In 2015, Rose appeared in 11 games (seven starts) and tallied 51 tackles (38 solo), 2.0 tackles for loss and six passes defensed. He saw action in 12 games (seven starts) in 2014 and totaled 46 tackles (37 solo), 1.0 tackle for loss, seven passes defensed, five interceptions and one fumble recovery. In 2013, Rose played in two games and registered eight tackles (four solo) for the Aggies before suffering an injury. Prior to New Mexico State, he played cornerback for two seasons (2011-12) at Los Angeles Valley College and collected three interceptions (two returned for touchdowns) and one fumble recovery. Rose was named First Team All-Conference in 2012 and Second Team All-Conference in 2011.
Davis, 6-1, 200 pounds, signed an exclusive rights contract with the Colts on April 13, 2016. He was originally claimed by the team off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks on December 16, 2015. Davis has seen action in 19 career games and posted one tackle, one forced fumble and 12 special teams stops.
