The Indianapolis Colts today claimed guard Donovan Williams off waivers from the Chicago Bears and waived punter Michael Palardy.
Williams, 6-3, 315 pounds, signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent on May 16, 2016. He participated in the offseason program and training camp with Chicago before being waived on August 13. Collegiately, Williams started all 25 games he played in at Louisiana-Lafayette after transferring from Blinn Junior College. The Ragin’ Cajuns produced a 1,000-yard rusher in each of the two seasons that he was a member of the program. In 2015, Williams started all 12 games and helped anchor an offensive line that allowed the fourth-fewest sacks in the Sun Belt Conference. He started all 13 games in 2014 and helped the Ragin’ Cajuns earn the nation’s 23rd ranked rushing offense. Prior to Louisiana-Lafayette, Williams played at Blinn Junior College where he was named First Team All-Southwest Junior College Football Conference and helped the team advance to the Southwest Junior College Football Championship semifinals in 2013.
Palardy, 5-11, 191 pounds, signed with the Colts as a free agent on August 6, 2016. He previously spent time with the Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, St. Louis Rams and Oakland Raiders but has not seen game action. Collegiately, Palardy played in 46 games at Tennessee and handled both the kicker and punter duties.
