The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent tight end Brandon Williams and placed tight end Erik Swoope on the Injured Reserve List.
The team also signed the following three players to the practice squad: wide receiver Krishawn Hogan, nose tackle Joey Mbu and tackle Andrew Wylie.
Williams, 6-3, 260 pounds, originally signed with Indianapolis as an unrestricted free agent on March 20, 2017. He has played in 45 career games (one start) with the Seattle Seahawks (2016), Miami Dolphins (2015) and Carolina Panthers (2013-15). Williams has caught six passes for 80 yards.
Swoope, 6-5, 258 pounds, has played in 17 career games (four starts) with Indianapolis over the last three seasons (2014-16) and has totaled 15 receptions for 297 yards and one touchdown. In 2016, he played in all 16 games (four starts) for the first time in his career and caught 15 passes for 297 yards and one touchdown. Swoope played in one game for the Colts in 2015 and also spent time on the team’s practice squad. As a rookie in 2014, he spent the entire season on the team’s practice squad.
Hogan, 6-3, 222 pounds, was waived by the Arizona Cardinals on September 2. The Indianapolis native originally signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2017 out of Marian University. He participated in the Colts 2017 Local Pro Day on April 12.
Collegiately, Hogan played in 40 games at Marian and finished with 263 receptions for 4,395 yards (16.7 avg.) and 42 touchdowns. He also threw one touchdown and registered 63 carries for 170 yards and 25 touchdowns. Hogan established school records in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He ranks second in school history in all-purpose yards (4,565) and scoring (402). Hogan’s 263 career receptions are the seventh-most in NAIA history. As a senior in 2016, he caught 80 passes for 1,435 yards and 15 touchdowns en route to earning All-Mid-States Football Association Offensive Player of the Year honors as well as First Team All-MSFA recognition. He also threw one touchdown and compiled 23 carries for 43 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Mbu, 6-3, 323 pounds, was waived by the Washington Redskins on September 2. He has played in two career games in his time with the Redskins (2016) and Atlanta Falcons (2015-16) and totaled four tackles (one solo).
In 2016, Mbu spent time on Washington and Atlanta’s practice squads. As a rookie in 2015, he spent most of the season on the Falcons’ practice squad before being signed to the team’s active roster for the final four weeks of the regular season. Mbu saw action in two games and registered four tackles (one solo).
Wylie, 6-6, 309 pounds, was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 15, 2017. He participated in the team’s 2017 offseason program and training camp before being waived during final cuts on September 2. Wylie started 46-of-47 career games at Eastern Michigan. His 46 starts rank fourth all-time in school history while his 47 appearances are tied for 12th all-time. In 2016, Wylie started all 13 games at right tackle and earned Third Team All-MAC honors.
